Hiking in the Gorge of
Kritsa, on Sunday, May 17, 2015!
Cressa Ghitonia
Village is
organizing a special tour in the gorge
of Kritsa, in collaboration with FAOS. The hiking will take place on Sunday, May 17, at 8 a.m. and the starting point will be
our hotel in Sfaka.
The gorge of Kritsa is a small but very
impressive gorge which starts from the village of Kritsa, 9.5 km. Southwest of
Agios Nikolaos and ends at the village Tapes. Its length is 13 km. and in some of
its areas its width reaches only 1.5 meters, but it is easily accessible with only
a few difficult to reach spots.
The entrance of the gorge, near Kritsa village is
very impressive, as the mountain is torn in two and a narrow passage is
created. Apart from its main path next to the stone bridge of Kritsa, there is also
another entrance which starts from the village. There is a big rock in the entrance
of the gorge, and after that point the gorge becomes even more impressive, with
very narrow passages and high walls.
Then the canyon widens
and the rocks get lower, until a
beautiful valley full of olive groves reveals. The path along the stream continues
for almost 1 hour and a half, until
Tapes village, where we can rest in the traditional coffee shop of the village.
The gorge of Kritsa is
a masterpiece of
nature, and spring is the best time to visit, since flowers
have blossomed in the area and the landscape looks like a fairytale!
Join us for a different
experience! Book HERE! * The total duration of the hiking tour will
last 2.5 hours and it costs 45 euros / person.
